Who we are

Hi, I’m Paulina, the heart behind Rocket Paws. I’ve spent my entire life in pet — growing up in a family-run pet store to spending nearly a decade on the road as a pet store advisor. After years of travel with my German Shepherd Romeo, I wanted to take everything I’d learned and bring it home, creating something local, personal, and impactful.

Rocket Paws was born from my love for dogs, my passion for fitness, and my desire to serve my community.

Living in downtown Milwaukee with two large, high-energy pups, I saw firsthand how hard it can be to give dogs the exercise they need, especially in busy cities, cold winters, and rainy days. Pair that with my growing love of dog sports and training, and the vision became clear: a mobile dog gym that brings safe, fun, customized exercise right to your doorstep.

With Rocket Paws, I’m combining years of expertise with a genuine passion for helping pets and their people live healthier, happier lives — while also supporting local rescues, foster programs, and local family-run pet stores.

Because for me, it’s not just about exercise. It’s about building a stronger, healthier community, one dog at a time.

Why we do it

At Rocket Paws, we believe every dog deserves the chance to feel their best physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Slatmill training isn’t just about exercise; it’s about confidence, enrichment, and balance.

A regular run can help dogs burn off energy, shed extra weight, and reduce unwanted behaviors caused by boredom or pent-up stress.

For high-drive and working breeds, it’s a safe and structured outlet that builds stamina and focus, while for more anxious pups, it’s a way to build confidence and calm.

Whether your goal is long-term wellness or just giving your pup some quick exercise before a holiday gathering or busy weekend, slatmill sessions provide stimulation and release dogs need to thrive.

At Rocket Paws, we’re here to fuel their zoom and launch their health — because when dogs thrive, so do their homes.

What is slatmill training?

A slatmill is like a dog-powered treadmill—no plugs, no motors, just pure pup power.

FAQs

1. What’s a slatmill and is it safe? Think of it as a dog-powered treadmill. There’s no motor and your pup sets the pace while their trainer coaches and cheers them on. Every session is supervised inside our climate-controlled van, so it’s safe, fun, and tailored to your dog.

2. How long is a session? Most runs last about 30 minutes. We use that time to make sure your dog feels confident and gets a solid workout with potty and water breaks as needed.

3. What kind of dog is this for? Rocket Paws is for every pup. Including wiggly puppies building confidence, high-energy dogs who need an outlet, seniors needing gentle exercise, and working dog maintenance. We adjust the pace and duration to fit your dog’s needs.

4. What should I do before our appointment? Keep it simple: no food for at least two hours before your scheduled run and a potty break 30 minutes prior to your dog’s session.

5. How often should my dog run? Most dogs thrive with one or two sessions a week. It helps with fitness, weight management, and burning off extra energy. After your intro run, we’ll help you find the routine that’s best for your pup.

6. Can I join my dog? We don’t keep human treadmills in the van but we do invite every owner to join any session for as long as they’d like. We’re also prepared and dedicated to forming a bond with your dog for when our Pet Parents need a break.

What to expect after a Rocket Paws run
Once your dog is finished running they may be tired, thirsty, and in need of some rest. Afterward it’s great to let them rest indoors. If your pup is older or a little sore, a gentle massage or soft brush might help ease any stiffness.

Recovery Tips
• Offer fresh, room-temperature water after the session.
• Don’t feed a full meal too soon—waiting about 1 hour post-session is ideal.
• Avoid high-impact activities for the rest of the day (let them lounge or gentle play).
• If it’s hot, keep them in a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned space.
• Light massage or gentle stretching can help, especially for older dogs or after intense sessions.
